Mayor Knox Ross
Pelahatchie to add bike, walking trails
First, free Wi-Fi.
Then, historic preservation of downtown.
Now, sports.
Pelahatchie's growing list of amenities continues to put the small eastern Rankin County town on the map.
Work is in progress on a 35-acre sports complex and a three-mile bike trail, both projects that Mayor Knox Ross hopes will enhance the quality of life.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Pelahatchie has been working to update and revise the town’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. The purpose of this plan is to identify natural hazards that affect the community, and identify actions the community can take to eliminate or reduce the risk posed by those natural hazards.
Members of the community are encouraged to provide public input on the contents of this plan update by reviewing the draft copy below. In addition, public copies of the plan can be reviewed at City Hall, 705 Second Street, starting Monday, July 25, 2011, and will be available for review through Friday, July 29, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily.
Pelahatchie is 1 of only a few communities in Mississippi certified by the National Weather service as a StormReady community.
StormReady communities are better
prepared to save lives from the onslaught of severe weather through better planning, education, and awareness.
No community is storm proof, but StormReady communities
can help save lives through proper planning and education. Rankin County’s StormReady status was recently recertified through 2010.
